From the Principal

Father’s Day is coming very soon, and we want to celebrate all our dads, grandads and any father figures we have in our lives.

We now know through research into psychology and sociology the significance of a father figure in children's lives. Our children watch and learn from both mum and dad, and usually grow up to be just like them.

A father, by his words and actions, shows his sons how to treat others, how to take on risks, and how to solve challenges. When a dad stays strong through a challenge, keeping his anger controlled, and solving the problem in respectful and loving ways, a son will do the same when he is grown.

A father, by his words and actions shows his daughters how valued and precious they are, and how to expect to be treated by others. A girl will form her identity by how her dad treats her mum and herself. A young girl, told by her dad, how special and valued she is, will grow into a confident and strong woman who has a healthy self esteem.

Dads...what you say and do matters!

We all have a perfect Father in God. In the Bible, we read how Jesus called God “Abba, Father” when He prayed. The Bible tells us that before the foundation of the world, God knew that Jesus would bring us into God’s family as adopted sons and daughters, if we accept the invitation. We can see so many ways that God spoke and acted with love towards us, His children, so we can be like Him.

We invite all dads, grandparents and father figures to a special Father’s Day assembly on Friday, 31st August, where we will have the opportunity to recognise you for how important you are to us.

“(God) predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will.’” Luke 10:27

Book Week

We had a wonderful time celebrating Book Week with our Book Character Parade where children came to school dressed as a book character. Thank you to all who prepared the children and their costumes. We couldn’t have done it without you.

The Book Fair, held after the Parade, was a huge success. The children were able to purchase books, and the school receives bonuses for every book that is bought. It was a terrific way to celebrate the fun and importance of books.

Learning at ACC

Imagine that you were going to learn to drive a car, but you didn’t have the car keys.

Or you were going to bake a cake, and you were missing a bowl and an oven. Not having the appropriate ‘tools’ makes performing simple tasks difficult.

We are now well into Term 3 in our learning, and we are finding that the learning ‘tools’ that our children require are either short in supply, or missing. In some cases, this compromises the children’s learning, and in others it prevents the children from completing their tasks.

Next week, you will receive a letter from your child’s teachers outlining the ‘tools’ that your child requires to maintain an excellent learning environment for them until the end of the year.

ACCDD P&F

“ The P and F will be having a Sausage Sizzle at the School Athletics Carnival on Friday, 7th September. Purchases can be made on the day and we will be sending out order sheets for the children before the date. The children will be able to purchase a fruit juice or bottled waterwith a sausage sizzle for $3. Please return the slip with the order and monies to the school by the 4th of September. We will see you then!”

The next P&F meeting will be held on Tuesday 28th August at 6:00pm. We will be discussing preparations for the Sausage Sizzle. All parents are welcome to attend.

Childminding will be available, however, please email Joan at [email protected] to book a place.
