From the Principal

Building strong family relationships requires thoughtful planning and effort.  We all make mistakes and have the potential to offend others, either intentionally or unintentionally. Elton John sang the song “Sorry seems to be the hardest word.” And sometimes it is hard to take responsibility for any hurt we may have caused.

What we all want, when we are offended, is for our feelings to be validated, and to hear the word “sorry”. There is something quite soothing when someone listens and empathises.

National Sorry Day is an annual event that has been held in Australia since 1998. It is an opportunity for all Australians to show empathy and validation to an Indigenous people group who have been wronged.

Forgiveness is also extremely important when building strong relationships. When we hold onto offenses, we continue to be burdened, and eventually the anger and resentment ‘eats us alive’. We have a choice to let go of the offense and forgive.

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.”
Ephesians 4:32

Meet our amazing ACC Staff

This week we find out a little bit more about Mrs Megan Watson, our magnificent Music Specialist.

Tell us about your family.

I am married to John. I have a son Hamish. We love camping together and going out on our boat. We enjoy switching off and spending time together as a family with no time frames

What instrument did you learn as a child?

I learnt piano. My mum was a piano teacher, and she taught me in Pre-Primary. Then in Year 6, I started learning trumpet. When I left school, I took singing lessons.

How long have you been teaching?

I started teaching trumpet and piano when I was seventeen, and I have been a classroom teacher for ten years.

What do you love about teaching?

I love getting to know the children. I love that kids can learn from having fun, and I feel good seeing them get to the next step and progress.

The P & F has arranged for ACCDD to host the Spud Shed Kelmscott Sausage Sizzle on the 30th of June 2018 between 8:00 am and 4:00pm. We will be cooking and selling hot dogs and cool drinks to raise money towards new instruments for the school’s music program. We are looking for parent volunteers that can help operate the stall between these hours for at least an hour or so. Please look for the roster in the office and pencil in a time if you can assist.

If anyone has any questions regarding the Spud Shed Stall Fundraiser or any suggestions for the P and F please contact Mrs Jade Turner on 0411 202 964.”

The next P&F meeting will be held on Tuesday 12th June at 6:00pm. All parents are welcome to attend to keep up to date with what is happening at ACCDD, meet other parents and find out how you can be part of the ACCDD community.

Childminding will be available, however, please email Joan at [email protected] to book a place.
