From the Principal
I held my first Campus Tour last week. We were discussing what one would expect from a Christian school. We all agreed that one important element was how well teachers respected and treated the students. At Australian Christian College you will find a loving culture, where staff show kindness and regard for each other, the children and their families, as well as the wider community. Students are encouraged and shown how to act toward each other with honour and regard. These are ways love can be shown.
Love is a gift from God. One of the reasons that love is the greatest gift is that it is essential to God’s nature. The Bible tells us that God is love. God gives us His love, and we reflect that love back to Him.
Jesus said, ”As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.”
National Book Week
Australian Christian College is celebrating National Book Week from 19th to 26th August.
There will be opportunities to purchase books from our Scholastic Book Fair. Children will view the books at the fair, writing a wish list which they will bring home to you. You can pay for the books either by putting the correct money in an envelope for your child to bring in on Friday 26th August, or return the list with our credit card details.
National Book Week will conclude with an Assembly on Friday 26th August, where children are invited to come to school dressed as a character from a book. They must bring along that book to share with everyone. After the assembly you are invited to your child’s class for some fun Book Week activities.
Earn and Learn
You can help our school by collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn Points. Just collect Woolworths Earn & Learn Points when you shop at Woolworths. We will redeem these for awesome educational resources for our school.
Simply pop them onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Points Sheet and once it’s completed, just bring it back to the ACC office. The more we collect, the more we can redeem. Products in the range include resources for Mathematics, English, Science, Art & Crafts, through to Sports equipment, Library supplies and more.
We are grateful for your support and look forward to a successful program. If you have any questions, please talk to Joan at reception.
Keep Friday 22nd September from 6:00pm - 7:30pm free and come along to the next Community Connection, where parents and children will have fun together.
Enrolments for 2018
If you, or your friends, want your children to be part of the ACC community in 2018, we invite you to complete an enrolment form here. Places are available from Kindy to Year 6 (boys and girls).
Our Principal, Jacqui Burrage, is now conducting interviews with parents and their newly enrolled children.
Parents and Friends
The ACC Parents & Friends met last week and discussed a number of ways that they might add value to our school community, including some fundraising ideas, such as holding a Father’s Day stall and swapping aluminium cans for cash. If you would like any more information, or feel you could give some time to help, please contact Elise Marshall on 0408 953 400.
The next P&F meeting is Tuesday 22nd August 2:45-3:45pm to prepare for the Father’s Day stall. Come along and be part of this amazing group of parents.
Children who are aged 5 to 16 or until the end of Year 11 (whichever comes first) and attending school are eligible for the School Dental Service. The Dental Service which ACC students can go to is Armadale Primary School Dental Clinic. They have a dental van on site. You can find them at 1 Carradine Road, Armadale. Phone: 9399 4546.
Sustainability at ACC
At Australian Christian College, we want to look after the wonderful world God has given us. Ways we do this are to reduce, recycle and reuse. We currently collect Nespresso coffee pods, batteries, food scraps for our worm farms and the composting barrel.
Now, we are introducing a system for collecting aluminium cans. Not only will we be helping the environment, but the P&F will be taking them to a recycling depot to raise funds for the school.
We ask you to bring in your empty aluminium cans, and even those of your friends and neighbours.
VACSWIM October School Holiday Swimming Lessons
With swimming pools and beaches a part of our Western Australian lifestyle, it is vital that every child has opportunities to learn essential swimming and water safety skills. VacSwim provides children from five to 17 years old with this opportunity by offering swimming lessons at many locations across the State.
Enrolments for the October school holiday swimming lessons are now open and families can enrol online. Enrolments for the five day October program close Sunday 27 August 2017.
