From the Principal
On Monday, the ACC teachers and I attended the annual WA Christian Schools Association conference at the Convention Centre in Perth. We gathered together with around 780 staff from Christian schools around Western Australia to learn and network.
The main theme was on Hope. We were asked to think about where we were putting our hope. Was it in our circumstances, our health or our abilities?
When the keynote speaker shared his own stories of how all of these had changed over his life, he pointed out how the only unchanging part of our life was God and His love for us.
As I reflected on where I put my hope, I was reminded of what the Bible tells us:
“God is so good, and by raising Jesus from death, he has given us new life and a hope that lives on.”
We want to take this opportunity to celebrate with Asher and Rebekah Sorenson who won a number of awards in their recent Spring into Action competition with the Armadale gymnastics club. Asher got the overall high point trophy for level 3 boys gymnastics, receiving four firsts (vault, floor, T-bars and rings) and one second (pommel and bar). Rebekah also received ribbons - first for floor, second for bar, third for beam and fifth for vault).
I am really excited to announce the beginning of the first Australian Christian College Playgroup. Playgroup WA are working with ACC to provide a very important service to our community - supporting parents in knowing how play based learning makes a significant difference in preparing our young children for school. If the trial is successful, we will continue to provide the space for mums to connect with their little ones and each other.
The ACC Playgroup is open to both current and future ACC parents, as well as anyone from the community. So please let your friends and neighbours know they are most welcome to come. Please RSVP to [email protected] so that we can prepare well.
Earn and Learn
We are excited to be taking part in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. You can help our school by collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn Points. Just collect Woolworths Earn & Learn Points when you shop at Woolworths from Monday 26th July. We will redeem these for awesome educational resources for our school.
Simply pop them onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Points Sheet and once it’s completed, just bring it back to the ACC office. The more we collect, the more we can redeem. There are thousands of products available through the Woolworths Earn & Learn program and we’d like to get lots of new gear! Products in the range include resources for Mathematics, English, Science, Art & Crafts, through to Sports equipment, Library supplies and more.
We are grateful for your support and look forward to a successful program. If you have any questions, please talk to Mrs Joan Scherpenzeel in reception.
Student Learning Review Meetings
At ACC we are keen to work in partnership with you and your child to ensure the best progress is being made. Student Learning Review Meetings, held in Term 3 Week 2, are one of the ways we connect with parents. A Review Meeting is an opportunity for parents, their child and classroom teacher to get together briefly to discuss the end of semester report and to set future learning goals. Please arrange a time to meet, in Week 2, with your child’s teacher.
Community Connection times, held at different times during the term, are an important way to stay connected with the ACC community. Community Connections involve meaningful interactions with the Principal, staff, other ACC parents, as well as students. Sometimes we gather to talk through important issues, and other times we share food and fun together. It’s what community is all about.
Due to the great feedback from our first Community Connection early last term, we are holding another gathering of parents, while the children have a movie night. Keep Wednesday 2nd August from 6:00 - 7:30pm free and come along.
Enrolments for 2018
If you, or your friends, want your children to be part of the ACC community in 2018, we invite you to complete an enrolment form here. Places are available from Kindy to Year 6 (boys and girls).
Mrs Burrage will be conducting interviews with parents and their newly enorolled children early Term 3.
Parents and Friends
The next P&F meeting is Tuesday 1st August 2:45-3:45pm. Come along and be part of this amazing group of parents.
In conjunction with the local Mundijong Police, the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is conducting a Community Safety Survey. The survey closes on Monday 14th August.

Primary Happy Snaps
The Year 4-6 Term 3 Challenge is to create a Learning Space which is contemporary, encourages learning and challenges the mind. We also have some happy students playing outside, in between rain showers.
